Comparing private hire prices is about more than choosing the lowest number. Check that the quote matches the journey you asked for, look at the operator behind it and make sure the vehicle class and practical details suit your trip.

Start with the same journey details

Price comparisons are useful only when operators are pricing the same job. Give a clear pickup and destination, the correct date and time, passenger count and any details likely to affect the journey.

For airport trips, include a flight number where relevant. If you have unusually large luggage, mobility requirements, multiple stops or another special requirement, say so before comparing prices.

Check whether the price is for the journey you actually need

Look for any assumptions attached to a quote. A Standard vehicle may not be suitable for five passengers with several large suitcases. An Executive quote may be higher because you are asking for a different level of vehicle.

Compare the operator, not only the fare
